We are very active members in the Northern Colorado Model T Club. I felt bad that Randy always had to drive every where we went since I did not know how to drive a T. Jim Ianson was gracious enough to teach me and what a patient man! I even managed to break his car during a lesson!
When everything was said and done, I decided that I wanted to have my own Model T and it had to have all the extras like Rocky Mountain Brakes, ruckstell, be dependable and no crank starts! Randy said that I was describing a Model A– I said fine get me one. The following week, I had my first Model A-the 31’ Ro9adster also known as Greenie Go-Go. (This car has shocking green wheels and I drive it very, very fast!) Since that time I have continued to purchase complete, drive able cars– at least one per year. I love to go to Bert’s its one of my favorite stores. In fact our saying at home is “He got it at Bert’s!” I am very thankful that Randy goes along with my craziness for Model A’s! While Randy enjoys working on cars, me– it’s all about driving! (By Darlene VanBuren)
I bought my first Model A when I was 13. My brother and I pooled our lawn mowing money in 1968 and bought my dad a 1930 Tudor Sedan for his birthday. It cost $200 and we ‘restored it’ in 6 months. Over the next 30+ years, I purchased several more projects, a 1928 Phaeton, 1930 Coupe, 1928 Sport Coupe and a 1929 Tudor. But other projects got in the way and I didn’t have a single running A. That all changed 4 years ago when Darlene wanted her own car, and she wanted “a done one, not one of your projects because I want to drive it now!” Now all of her A’s get in the way of my other projects, although I am actually diligently working on restoring a 1929 Roadster for ME! Darlene’s comment: When it’s done, guess who it will belong to? (By Randy VanBuren)
